Throttle Maintenance.

Proper throttle operation is essential, you should verify that it is functioning properly weekly. If your throttle sticks while your on a ride...well you get the picture.

Check the throttle for smooth operation in all steering positions (full right, full left and straight) If you feel any binding sticking or roughness at any position from closed to full open you should not ride the bike

The first thing you can do is try to lubricate the lines with silicone lubricant, if this does not work you should replace your cables.

Throttle Free Play

You should be able to move the throttle 2-4mm before the throttle starts to open. If you have more play than that its time to adjust it.

Throttle Adjustment

Adjusting Free Play

You will need an 8mm and a 10mm wrench to perform this task. Use the 8mm wrench to hold the adjuster in place while you loosen the locknut with the 10mm wrench. Back off the locknut and then turn the adjuster until the throttle free play is in between 2-4mm range. Then re-tighten the locknut. (TIP: wrap the adjuster and locknut with teflon tape so the wrenches don't scratch the finish)
