Gilles Shifter Shaft Stabilizer

The shifting action on the CBR1000RR is pretty good to start with but even as good as it is I have on occasion
had missed shifts driving around town. I attribute the missed shifts to not being firm enough on the shifter.
That being said if you examine the shifter shaft you will notice it moves around quite a bit allowing the shifter
arm to torque the shifter shaft when shifting, which in turn will probably wear the shifter drum prematurely.
I came across this offering from Gilles Tooling, a shifter shaft stabilizer. It’s basically a little aluminum part
that supports the shifter shaft right next to the shifter arm thus eliminating the slop that was initially present.
The Gilles Tooling shifter stabilizer is a very finely crafted part, it even has needle bearing instead of a bushing to
keep frictional resistance as low as possible. The kit comes with all the required parts and is a snap to install.
So, does it work? Yes definitely, shifting feels easier and more positive with this part installed.
To install the shifter Stabilizer you will need a 3/8 ratchet, a six inch extension, a 8mm socket, a 4mm Allen socket
and a 10mm wrench.

Start by removing the shifter arm. Use the 10mm wrench to remove the shift arm bolt. (Note. the bolt has to be
removed, not just loose, for the shifter arm to be removed) The pull then arm off the shaft and just let it rest
towards the back of the bike.

Next, remove the two 8mm bolts detailed in the above photo.
